Across our operations, we’re committed to protecting the planet, using cleaner energy, conserving water, and reducing waste through smart, circular practices. And it’s our people who bring this vision to life, educating communities, volunteering, and driving progress every day.
Together, we’re building a more sustainable future, through our products, our actions, and our shared purpose.
We don't just claim to invest in sustainability measures, we look for ways to measure and validate. Enter EcoVadis, a globally recognized provider of business sustainability ratings. In 2025, Hach received a Silver Medal from EcoVadis. This places us in the top 15% of more than 150,000+ companies rated by EcoVadis. The assessment includes 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. At Hach, we pride ourselves on our culture of continuous improvement where sustainability is a driving force that pushes us forward.

Sustainability starts with action. Across our global facilities, we're reducing waste, conserving resources and advancing renewable energy.

Since 1989, Hach has taken back used reagents from customers, and today, the Environmental Center in Düsseldorf recycles more than 350 tons of glass, plastic, cardboard, and other recyclables which are recovered from end-of-life products returned by customers each year. This represents a recovery rate of approximately 75%, thanks to continuous innovation in recycling methods. This long-standing commitment reflects Hach’s holistic approach to environmental responsibility.
Action starts with people. Hach associates are educating communities, volunteering their time and fundraising to support communities worldwide.

Hach Colombia associates join forces in a reforestation initiative, planting trees and exploring their role in restoring balance to rural ecosystems. The experience blends hands-on environmental action with learning, as participants contribute directly to local sustainability efforts. This collaborative effort highlights how meaningful impact can grow from shared purpose and teamwork in nature.

Hach Ames associates actively support water health by monitoring 50 sites across Story County as part of a long-term Water Quality Monitoring Plan. Trained associates collect data on pH, nitrate, dissolved oxygen, and other key indicators to help track ecosystem health and identify areas of concern. Their hands-on efforts contribute valuable insights to local conservation partners and raise awareness about the importance of protecting our waterways.

At Hach Romeoville, surplus lab equipment—beakers, flasks, and graduated cylinders—found new purpose in the hands of local students instead of heading to the landfill. By donating these materials to a nearby high school chemistry program, the team supported STEM education while reducing waste. This simple act turned unused supplies into a meaningful resource, strengthening community ties and inspiring the next generation of scientists.

In a creative challenge to support both the environment and local causes, Hach Colombia collected bottles with metallized paper, non-recyclable plastics, and plastic caps. These materials are being transformed into ecological bricks for sustainable construction projects, while the caps are donated to a foundation supporting children with cancer. This initiative not only diverted waste from landfills but also brought teams together to make a meaningful difference in their community.

Each year, Hach teams around the world celebrate Earth Day through hands-on environmental and community activities. From friendly clean-up competitions and tree planting to water analysis and wildflower seed scattering, associates take meaningful steps to support sustainability. Educational sessions on recycling and a shared vegan breakfast round out the day, turning awareness into action and strengthening our connection to the planet.
Hach's mission is to ensure water quality for people around the world. Each year, Hach leads an annual Walk for Water with our partner Water Mission to raise awareness and funds to support the global water crisis.
Did you know that 2.2 billion people are affected by the global water crisis? That equates to one-third of our population who live every day with water scarcity.
What does Water Mission do? They're a non-profit organization that designs, builds, and implements safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) solutions for people in developing countries and disaster areas.
