Tryptic Soy Broth, Dehydrated 500 g

Most Probable Number (MPN) tests using Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) are used to estimate the total aerobic bacterial count in a sample. This approach is commonly used for bioburden/sterility testing of non-sterile products and for estimating bacterial levels in food and water. MPN testing is especially useful for particulate or turbid samples where direct colony counting methods can be difficult to perform.
Tryptic Soy Broth is also widely used as a general-purpose, non-selective liquid medium for cultivating a broad range of microorganisms, including many bacteria, yeasts, and molds. It supports growth of both common organisms (such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli) and more fastidious bacteria (organisms with special growth requirements), including Streptococcus, Neisseria, Listeria, Haemophilus, Vibrio, Corynebacterium, and Brucella.
