m-FC agar is a selective media used for the detection and enumeration of fecal coliforms in food and water using the membrane filtration technique. Coliforms form blue colonies; non-coliforms form grey colonies. For total coliforms, incubate at 35-37C; for fecal coliforms incubate at 44-45C.
m-FC is incubated at 44.5 ± 0.5C. Fecal coliforms grow as dark blue colonies. Other organisms produce colonies, which may vary from pale orange to cream.

Selective for total coliforms differential for fecal coliforms (by selection of incubation temperature).
