m-Endo Broth, 50/pk 2-mL plastic ampules. Selectivity: Total Coliform Bacteria and Escherichia coli.
m-Endo broth detects total coliform bacteria (colonies with a greenish-gold sheen are lactose fermenters. Lactose non-fermenters form colorless colonies.). For potable water samples, confirm with Lauryl Tryptose and Brilliant Green Bile Broth tubes. Samples that test positive for total coliform bacteria should be further analyzed for the presence of fecal coliform or E. coli using EC Medium or EC Medium with MUG respectively.

Please note:
The prepared solution is pinkish red, has an opalescent (cloudy) appearance, and slight precipitate. Gently swirl or mix the broth before applying it to absorbent pads so the precipitate is evenly dispersed in the solution.
Escherichia coli colonies appear deep red with a metallic green-gold sheen. Pseudomonas aeruginosa colonies appear small and may be colorless to pink. Proteus vulgaris colonies appear small and colorless.
